LIFEGUARD TRAINING CLASS

NEXT CLASS: December 22 – January 4, 2019

Lifeguard Training:

CBRC is pleased to offer Red Cross Lifeguard Training. This is the newly released lifeguard training material, r.17. Instruction will cover the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard and how to carry them out in a professional manner. Participants who successfully pass all required skills and complete the training will be certified as lifeguards and will be eligible* to lifeguard at swimming pools in the State of Washington.
*(Some jurisdictions require additional training after hire.)

Prerequisites:
  • Participants must be 15 years old by the end of class.
  • Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing (non stop). Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Swim 20 yards and dive to a depth of 10 feet to retrieve a 10-lb object and return with the object in less than 1 minute 40 seconds.
  • Required skills: crawl stroke, breaststroke, surface dive and treading water.

  • Please Note: CBRC does not supply the Lifeguard Training Manual and CPR mask required for the class. Participants must purchase the Lifeguard Training Manual and CPR mask before the course begins.

Participants must attend all classes and pass final examination. Participants who complete the training will be recertified as lifeguards and will be eligible* to lifeguard at swimming pools in the State of Washington.

  • Participants must be currently certified as American Red Cross Lifeguards.
  • Participants must attend with Lifeguard Training Manual and CPR Mask.
