Swim Instructor

Swim Instructor

CBRC Health & Fitness

CBRC Health & Fitness is seeking enthusiastic, patient, and dependable Swim Instructors who love working with kids, enjoy being in the water, and are excited to help others become safe and confident swimmers.

At CBRC, our core purpose is building a community and inspiring healthier lives. Our Swim Instructors bring that purpose to life by helping participants develop skills that build confidence, independence, and lifelong enjoyment of the water.

The Role

As a CBRC Swim Instructor, you will provide safe, engaging, and encouraging swim instruction to participants with varying ages, abilities, and experience levels.

Our instructors do more than teach swimming skills. They build relationships with students and families, celebrate progress, create positive experiences, and help participants look forward to coming back for their next lesson.

We are looking for instructors who can combine quality instruction with patience, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to water safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective, and engaging swim instruction using CBRC’s established teaching methods.
  • Teach participants appropriate swimming and water-safety skills based on their age and ability level.
  • Create a positive, fun, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Build confidence in swimmers while helping them progress toward individual goals.
  • Demonstrate and explain swimming skills and techniques clearly.
  • Adapt instruction when appropriate to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Maintain active supervision and make participant safety the highest priority.
  • Build positive relationships with students and communicate professionally with parents and guardians.
  • Provide appropriate feedback regarding student progress and areas for continued development.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled lessons.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe pool environment.
  • Properly use and care for swim lesson equipment.
  • Follow CBRC policies, procedures, safety standards, and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow instructors, lifeguards, and the Aquatics leadership team.
  • Help create the positive experiences that encourage continued participation and growth in CBRC’s swim lesson program.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Swim Instructor genuinely enjoys teaching and working with people. You understand that learning to swim can be exciting for some participants and intimidating for others, and you have the patience and encouragement to meet each swimmer where they are.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • A genuine love of working with children and helping others learn.
  • Strong swimming skills and comfort working in an aquatic environment.
  • A commitment to water safety and attentive supervision.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and parents.
  • The ability to provide clear instruction and encouragement.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and punctuality.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and continue developing as a swim instructor.

Physical Requirements

Because this is an active, in-water teaching position, Swim Instructors must be able to:

  • Remain in the water for extended periods while teaching.
  • Demonstrate swimming skills, strokes, and other aquatic movements.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the pool and deck areas.
  • Assist swimmers in the water as appropriate.
  • Safely handle and move swim lesson equipment.
  • Maintain the vision, hearing, and awareness necessary to supervise participants and respond to potential safety concerns.

Compensation

Pay range: $17.13–$18.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Why CBRC?

Learning to swim can make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

At CBRC, our Swim Instructors have the opportunity to help a hesitant beginner become comfortable putting their face in the water, help a child swim independently for the first time, or help a developing swimmer master a new skill.

Those moments build more than swimming ability—they build confidence, safety, and a positive relationship with the water.

We want our swim lessons to be an experience children and families are excited to return to, and our instructors are at the heart of making that happen.

If you love kids, love the water, and would enjoy helping others become safer and more confident swimmers, we’d love to have you on the CBRC team.
