Phyllis Meyers Turkey Tournament
benefiting the Mid-Columbia Tennis Association
The Tennis staff at CBRC Health & Wellness Clinic feels it’s important to be part of our community outside of the club. Each year, we hold several events to help tennis grow in the Tri-Cities. In 2015, the Phyllis Meyer Tennis Association (PMTA) was established as a 501.3c for this purpose. In 2016, the PMTA was re-established as the Mid-Columbia Tennis Association (MCTA), an organization formed “to grow the lifelong sport of tennis throughout the Mid-Columbia community by providing equipment, opportunity, and resources.” The annual “Phyllis Meyer Turkey Tournament”, in memory of long-time CBRC member and avid tennis player, Phyllis Meyer, is held each November. The tournament draws players from around the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Yakima, and Northeastern Oregon for singles & doubles round-robin play, and now benefits the MCTA.
- In 2015, the PMTA held an event at Market Vineyard the weekend before the “Turkey Tournament” to raise money for our local programs. This event, combined with the annual “Turkey Tournament”, subsidized $9000 worth of tennis equipment for local juniors in Pasco & Richland.
- In 2016, the “Turkey Tournament” once again raised several thousand dollars for the MCTA.
