Our trek begins by descending into the Rouvas Forest, a lush and dense forest known for its rare vegetation and home to the largest Kermes oak forest in Crete. From there, we’ll enter the dramatic Agios Nikolaos Gorge, famous for its towering rock formations and rugged ravines. We will cross a brook and continue toward the serene Lake Zarros, where our hike will conclude. After dipping our feet in the refreshing waters of the lake (swimming is not permitted), we will enjoy a traditional Cretan lunch at a nearby taverna.
