Getting Started

Your First Step: The Starting Point

Before beginning Functional Group Personal Training or Personal Training, you’ll meet with a certified personal trainer for a Starting Point appointment. This complimentary assessment helps us understand your goals, review your needs, and determine the best starting point for your training.

During your appointment, your trainer will discuss your health and wellness goals and complete a Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to help identify movement limitations or areas that may benefit from additional attention. Your appointment will conclude with a workout.

Our goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and ready to get started!

Starting Point FAQs

What is the Starting Point?

The Starting Point is an appointment with a certified personal trainer to discuss your health and wellness goals, review your needs, and complete a Functional Movement Screen (FMS). This helps our team better understand your movement and determine an appropriate training program.

Do I need to complete a Starting Point before participating?

Yes. CBRC requires members to complete a Starting Point before beginning Functional Group Personal Training. This allows our trainers to assess your current movement and mobility and help place you in the most appropriate program.

How long does the appointment take?

Plan for approximately 45–60 minutes.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring water. Your appointment will conclude with a workout, so come prepared to move!

Where do I go for my appointment?

Meet at the Fitness Desk on the lower level of the Fitness Center, just across from the running/walking track.

How early should I arrive?

Please allow time to change into your workout attire and arrive at the Fitness Desk about five minutes before your scheduled appointment.

What if I need to reschedule?

No problem! Please contact the CBRC Front Desk at (509) 943-8416 to reschedule your appointment.

Ready to Get Started?

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Our team is here to help you find the right class, learn the movements, and build a routine that works for you.
