What is Functional Group Personal Training?

Functional group personal training is a form of strength training that prepares your body for routine activities. These exercises are essential for real-life scenarios such as bending, lifting, twisting, and loading. By incorporating functional fitness training into your routine, you equip yourself to handle these physical demands with ease.
Functional group personal training offers numerous advantages to individuals of all fitness levels, ages, and exercise backgrounds. These programs can aid in muscle development, calorie burning, and improving aerobic capacity.
Functional Group Personal Training Class Descriptions:
Intro to Functional Strength: Have you ever wanted to learn the basics of functional strength training but maybe you’ve felt intimidated? Or you aren’t quite sure where to start on your strength training initially? This is the class for you! This class is geared to teach you the basic movements to build the foundation for your functional strength. Participants must have completed a starting point with a trainer before participation.
Functional Strength 1.0: This training enhances your functional strength, focusing on body weight exercises, compound movements, and resistance training. All sessions are led by a certified personal trainer.
Functional Strength 2.0: This training is an advanced version of the Functional Strength 1.0 class, utilizing more complex exercises and resistance training to improve your functional strength. Led by certified personal trainers to ensure your safety and progress!
Living Stronger: This class is intended for deconditioned adults and aims to enhance their physical strength, balance, and mobility. Participants are not required to get up and down off the ground. Our trainers are here to provide modifications and expertise during these sessions.
Mobility Magic: This training is geared towards improving your flexibility, mobility, and range of motion using various techniques such as stretching, foam rolling, and more. Participants must be able to get up and down off the ground. Every 3 weeks will be a different focus. Let our certified personal trainers help you. Our motto is you can’t put strength on top of dysfunction/limitations.
Power Hour 400: A high intensity workout designed to push your limits and build strength, endurance, and mental toughness. This class is held weekly and will train participants of all fitness levels to complete 400 reps of 4 fundamental exercises. On the 3rd Friday of March, June, September and December we will test participants to complete the Power Hour 400 as fast as they can to post on our leaderboard!
Women & Weights: This class is just for women wanting to learn how to effectively integrate weight training into their fitness routine safely and with the assistance of certified personal trainers. Women will improve their overall fitness, build strength and get more toned, increase metabolism, improve bone density, boost confidence, and connect with other women looking to do the same. Classes are located on the north side of the basketball court. Single sessions or unlimited sessions are available for purchase.
Small-Group Personal Training:
- Looking for a little more attention? In the Small Group setting, we will place you in the proper level of training for your goals and concerns. During your training sessions, you will meet with one of our certified trainers in our Small Group format. In this personalized setting, you will benefit from in-depth instruction while focusing on your goals.
What is the cost?
- Functional Group Personal Training is available at a drop-in rate of $10 per class or unlimited monthly. These programs are only available to CBRC Members.

- What is the Starting Point?
At the Starting Point, you will meet with a Certified Personal Trainer to review your health and wellness goals and needs, you will also go through a functional movement screen (FMS) to observe any movement restrictions you may have. - Do I have to do the Starting Point/FMS?
The Starting Point/FMS is crucial to conduct before any workout regimen you may be pursuing. Assessing your current movement/mobility allows CBRC’s Certified Personal Trainers to place you in a program that will give you the best results. - How long will it take?
The Starting Point will take approximately 45-60 minutes. - What should I wear/bring?
Please wear clothing that you are comfortable working out in and water. Your appointment will conclude with a workout. - Where do I go?
Please meet at the Fitness Desk located on the lower level just across the running/walking track in the Fitness Center. - How early should I arrive?
Please allow enough time to change into your workout attire and arrive at the Fitness Desk approximately 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment. - What do I do if I need to reschedule my appointment?
