We last wrote about the Bod Pod back in October. If you need to, you can catch up on it here.
Today we’re going to revisit the Bod Pod and focus on some of the benefits.
Many people who come to the gym are here because they want to lose weight. They see the needle on the scale a little too far to the right, and they want to do something about it.
That is a perfectly normal desire.
What we want to do here, at CBRC, is to help you shift your focus, just a little bit. Instead of focusing on weight, we want you to focus more on getting healthy.
Once you have established healthier habits, the weight will follow.
A key aspect of your overall health is your body composition. The Bod Pod determines how much of your weight is composed of lean mass, and how much is fat.
This gives you a baseline from which you can build a plan.
Apart from a workout plan, you can also build a food plan. After all, 80% of your health is determined in your kitchen.
By knowing your body composition, you can build a calorie plan with Kelly Sherman, our resident nutritionist. She will help you know exactly how many calories you should be consuming every day.
More importantly, she will help you eat the right kind of calories. After all, you can get your daily 2,000 calories by eating five doughnuts, but would that be the best choice?
Your body needs a lot of vitamins and minerals to aid in your metabolism. To help your body break down your food and fuel your muscles and organs. So, the types of calories you eat is every bit as important as the number of calories.
Lots of people, after spending months on a weight loss journey, tell us they wish they had started out with a Bod Pod measurement. That way they could have known where they started.
It’s helpful to do it at the beginning of your journey because its hard to know how to get where you’re going, if you don’t know where you are. One thing Kelly will tell you is that you can never assume you know your body composition. As long as she’s been doing the Bod Pod, she would never be able to guess (not the she would try).
There are many factors that determine you body composition. How much do you move around? Are you at a desk all day? How old are you? Are you male or female?
So rather than assume you know your body composition, come get tested, so you actually know. That way Kelly can help you build exercise and eating plans that are custom built for your unique needs.
We have the Bod Pod here on site, so you can make an appointment any time you want. The whole process takes less than 15 minutes.
And the Bod Pod is included to all adult members who join in the month of March. That way you can get started off on the right foot here at CBRC. If you still have questions, feel free to contact Kelly.
As always, we’ll be with you every step of your journey.
We wish you good health,
Columbia Basin Racquet Club
