Holidays are around the corner and before they’re here, make a plan to stay on track.
MAKE A DATE
If you write your goals down and make them SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based), then you’ll be more likely to keep them.
Get a blank calendar and schedule your workouts in advance. If you can see how your routine fits into the rest of your daily obligations. That way you’ll be less likely to skip your workouts and have more realistic expectations about how much time you can spend at the gym.
ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY
Personal Trainer, Jessica “JV” Vance, reminds us in a “Thursday Thought” on Facebook Live that one of the best ways to not fall off the fitness wagon is to find an “accountability buddy.” Your buddy – whether it’s a friend, spouse, or co-worker – can help you monitor your goals.
HARVEST VEGETABLES
Fall brings an influx of new fruits and vegetables to incorporate into your diet. Apples, squash, sweet potatoes, cranberries, Brussel sprouts, pears, and especially pumpkin are all available. A quick Google search of fall recipes will return all kinds of ideas for soups, roasted vegetables, and healthy side dishes. Start trying new recipes now and then you’ll have some new favorites to add to your holiday dinner parties.
WEIGH-IN
Now that the weather’s getting colder, you’ll probably find yourself laying up more regularly. With bulkier sweaters and coats you may start to feel heavier, or be less likely to notice if your weight fluctuates. Take advantage of the Styku body composition testing so you can get a clear picture of your metrics and set appropriate goals.
WORKOUT WHILE YOU WATCH
As it gets darker earlier, it may be easier to stay inside rather than going out and being active. If you find yourself watching more TV than in the summer, make it a habit to fit in exercise instead of sitting on the couch.
You can easily do stationary exercises while watching your favorite show. Do lunges, stretch, use resistance bands, or simply high step in- place. many streaming services have exercise shows that you can follow along with instead of watching a sitcom.
And don’t forget, our Precor Ellipticals, Treadmills, and AMTS’s have Hulu and Netflix so you can also stream right onto your exercise equipment here at CBRC.
SEASONAL FUN
Even if it’s getting darker earlier and the weather’s getting chilly. You can still enjoy some time outside. Pick apples, go through a pumpkin patch or enjoy a corn maze.
If you’re already to start prepping for the holidays, you can take advantage of CBRC’s Winter Shopping Extravaganza. Come by the club on Saturday, Nov. 8 between 12 and 5 p.m. and visit more than 25 local vendor booths. Of course, you’re also welcome to fit in a quick work out while you’re here.
