office exercise: staying active at work

Many people spend most of their day at work sitting in an office. With limited hours in the day and busy schedules, it can be hard to find time to be active and exercise. With some simple workouts, you can make your office life much more active. (It may even help the day pass by more quickly!) Check out these easy exercises that you can incorporate into your daily work routine to make your lifestyle healthier!

Glamour came up with a great list of easy office exercises in their article “Lean In: The Ultimate 10-Minute Office Workout,” that anyone can do while at work. Read below to see the workout list and learn why these workouts are great and easy to do while at work!

The Ultimate 10-Minute Office Workout

  1. Tricep Dips
  2. Seated Leg Lifts
  3. Seated Ab Twists
  4. Standing V
  5. Wide Second
  6. Standing Rear Pulses
  7. Wall Sits
  8. Wall Sits with Heal Jogs
  9. Wall Push-ups
  10. Incline Lunge with Foot Tap

All of these exercises can be done from sitting in your chair, at the desk with your chair pushed back, and at the wall. These simple movements help to wake up your muscles, which can lay limp while sitting at a desk all day. For more details, check out Glamour’s article for exercise descriptions and pictures.

These exercises are great because most of them can be done while you are still working, reading reports, or checking emails at your desk. If you love multitasking, these may be fore you! Other exercises that are done at the wall away from your desk, like wall sits and wall push-ups, would be great to do during your breaks. Exercising your body and mind at work at the same time = a win-win for you! The great thing is, you don’t need a lot of space either. You don’t need a large office space to workout.  Also, no need to bring props, equipment, or a change of clothes for these exercises!

Adding exercises and activity to your work routine is an easy way to lead a more active, healthy lifestyle. If your office mates think you are strange at first – invite them to do some exercises with you during break or at lunch! Maybe you can even plan some de-stressing workouts for the whole office. Have fun bringing the workout to work! Stay fit, stay happy, and we can’t wait to see you at CBRC.
