Costumes and candy. Those are the two essential C’s that everyone starts thinking about as soon as the calendar switches to October. Retailers have gone all out on decorating the stores with everything from ghosts, to witches, to pumpkins. One of the main switches are the aisles of candy that are overstocked on shelves in grocery stores. You may have not been tempted to break your healthy eating streak and binge on some delicious chocolate before, but with Halloween season, your temptations will be put to the ultimate test.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if there were healthy Halloween options? Well, have no fear, CBRC is here. We wanted to share some healthy alternatives to the traditional candy snacks. Everyone will be so impressed with the creativity, no one will notice the snacks are actually good for you!

Everyday Health wrote an article called, “10 Healthy Halloween Treats for Kids.” One of our favorites was the Pumpkin Dippers:

“Give your tired chips-and-dip routine a healthy costume change. We consulted Pinterest and then raided the crisper to make this adorable pumpkin-patch-themed dish your kids will love!

You’ll need: 2 large carrots, Toothpicks, Curly-leaf parsley, Scallions, Hummus

Directions: Cut carrots into coin shapes and spear in the center with a toothpick. Add a parsley leaf to the top of the carrot (through the toothpick), and then cut a small piece of scallion and thread it onto the toothpick to use as the pumpkin stem. Spread store-bought hummus on a platter, dish, or tray to create the field, and arrange pumpkins on top.”

Beach Body on Demand released a list of “13 Healthy Halloween Treats.” Do you like deviled eggs? Well, make them extra spooky with spider legs!

“To make eight scary spider eggs, cut 12 black olives in half vertically. Place one half in the center of each egg to form the body, then slice each remaining olive half into four sections to create legs.”

Brit & Co prepared a slideshow with “20 Healthy Halloween Snack Recipes for Eerily Good Eating.” One of the recipes compares avocado toast to zombie flesh! Intrigued? Check out the recipe and try it today!

If you liked the small preview we provided from each list of healthier Halloween options, then check out the other recipes. Have fun with your family and friends the next couple of weeks by practicing making some of your favorites. Impress everyone with your healthy Halloween spirit!

Have a great Halloween season!
