The first day of fall is here and as the weather cools down, you may start looking for more to do inside. The schedule at Columbia Basin Racquet Club has adjusted and there’s plenty to do to keep you busy and fit.
SWIMMING
Pelican Bay has closed for the summer, but the bubble is up over the outdoor pool and it opens at 4 a.m. for lap swimming. Water aerobics classes start as early at 7:30 a.m. in the indoor pool and classes are held nearly every day. With the weather getting cooler, you’ll appreciate the warm and hot spas, and the sauna and steam rooms even more than usual.
And just because summer is over, doesn’t mean you can’t get ready for next year by signing your kids up for swimming lessons. There are different sessions available throughout the week for all skill levels.
AQUATRACK
Once children who are six or older know how to swim, then they thy can have fun on the AquaTrack. They will develop balance, coordination, and endurance on the floating obstacle course in the outdoor pool. Great for birthday parties, groups or just having a fun afternoon while getting some exercise and playing in the pool with your children. The AquaTrack opens on Oct. 5 and is available on Saturdays (1 to 5 pm) and Sundays (2 to 6 pm).
INDOOR TRACKS
If it’s too chilly to run outside, then consider using one of the two indoor tracks. One is above the indoor pool and the other circles the weight room. There are lanes for walkers and runners, so you can move comfortably at your own pace.
Of course, the treadmills are also available and have the added benefit of watching TV while you exercise, which can help the time go more quickly. Since school and after-school activities may limit the time available to spend at the gym, then a quick cardio workout on the ellipticals, stationary bikes, or rowing machines are good options to get your heart rate up.
GROUP CLASSES
If walking and weights don’t motivate you, then take advantage of more than 100 group exercise classes that are taught every week. Kids Zumba classes meet at a later time and several classes have been rescheduled and shifted. Don’t forget to bookmark the page so you can adjust to the new times that complement school hours to allow members and instructors to work out around their children’s schedules.
LES MILLS FALL LAUNCH
Starting September 30, you can collect a golden ticket from your Les Mills group class instructors. Collect as many tickets as you can and then return on Saturday, Oct. 12 for the fall launch and be entered to win a prize.
TRY SOMETHING NEW
If you’ve spent the summer busy outside, you might worry about getting bored indoors. With so many options to choose from at CBRC, you can try something and vary your routine.
Whether you’re in an Alloy class, pairing up with a friend in the weight room, giving personal training a try, swimming or running laps, mastering karate, playing racquetball, basketball, or tennis, or getting a well-earned massage, there’s plenty to keep you in sweating through the fall and winter seasons.
