Finding time to work out can be tricky, but the Columbia Basin Racquet Club’s flexible hours can accommodate any schedule. CBRC opens at 4 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. on weekdays and group exercise classes begin as early as 5:15 a.m.
Monday through Friday, you can choose from six early morning Les Mills™ Group Fitness Classes: BodyPump™, BodyFlow™, RPM™, BodyAttack™, CXWORX™, or Les Mills Sprint™.
Alloy classes are also available Monday through Friday, as well as small group training and individual personal training appointments.
RISE AND SHINE
According to Anthony Hackney, a professor in the department of exercise and sport science at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, the morning is the best time to work out. He says, “In the early morning hours, you have a hormonal profile that would predispose you to better metabolize fat.”
Working out in the morning can also set the tone for the rest of the day, leading to improved mental clarity and stress reduction. Because you’re up and moving earlier, you may also see increased productivity and more energy throughout the day.
WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHEN
Although there are clear health benefits to a morning workout, not everyone is a morning person or can make it to the gym first thing. What matters most is that you identify a time that works for you so you can establish a routine and exercise consistently.
There are activities and classes throughout the day at CBRC and the weight room and cardio equipment are always available. There are also Kid’s Classes, such as yoga and Zumba, so you can easily take your family with you. You also have the option of taking them to Kid’s Play or Kid’s Club so they can play while you exercise.
MOVE EVERYDAY
Working out at CBRC provides structure and can focus your workout, but you can also take advantage of activities available in our area. Do you want to spend time with your family? Take a hike up Badger Mountain or go play in one of the numerous parks. There are plenty of opportunities to play outside. You can a paddleboard, canoe, or kayak out on the river, or ride a bike on the miles of trails. Even shopping can become a fitness opportunity – park far away from the entrance to stores or walk all through the mall instead of going straight to your favorite shop.
The more you incorporate movement into your everyday life, the easier it will be to take advantage of the full range of fitness opportunities that CBRC has to offer.
